Best Memory from Athletics/Band:
My favorite memory from marching band was at the 2019 State Finals when 2nd Place was announced to Godwin Heights. I was overwhelmed with feelings of happiness and relief that all our hard work had paid off; we had finally won a State Championship. My favorite memory from Cross Country was cheering our last team cheer at state finals right before the starting gun was shot.

What game, match, contest, race, performance, etc stands out to you the most?   Why?
The races that stick out the most to me were the races hosted at Hesperia. Hesperia’s course is well-known for its numerous hills, and I dreaded racing there. Once I finished a race without quite literally dying, I felt confident that I was in good shape for the rest of the season.

What have Kent City Athletics/Band taught you about Work Ethic (WE)?   Give an example.
Throughout my experiences of band and sports at Kent City, I have learned that with a strong work ethic, you are more likely to achieve your goals. Every summer, I would set a mileage goal in June to complete before Cross Camp in August. I knew that training over the summer would help me achieve my goals during the fall season. If I did not feel like running one day, I would remind myself of my goals and automatically become more motivated. Because of my work ethic before and during the seasons, I was able to achieve one of my goals of obtaining First-Team All-Conference four years in a row and help my team win four Conference titles.

Who has had a lasting impact on your life from Kent City Athletics/Band? How?
I want to thank Coach Evers for coaching me in Track and Cross Country for four years. She is truly passionate about spurring each and every one of her athletes to be the best they can be and helping them achieve their goals. I also want to thank her for her leadership in Fellowship of Christian Athletes where she encourages us to be Christ-like and loving to others. It saddens me that I could not have one last season with Coach Evers, but I am thankful for the years and memories we have had together.

Why should kids get involved in athletics/band while in high school?
I cannot imagine what high school would have been without my involvement in sports and band. If you want lifelong friends and memories, then participate in sports, band, or any other club.
