Girls 8th Grade Basketball · 8th Grade Girls Basketball Gains 2 More Wins


On Saturday the 8th Grade girls basketball team traveled to Big Rapids. Their first match up was against Hesperia. The Eagles gained a quick lead against the Panthers outscoring them 25 to 0 in the first quarter. Kent City continued to share the ball offensively which contributed to each of the Eagles scoring at least 2 points by the end of the game. Kent City won 60 to 12. Leading scorer was Madelyn Geers with 24 points, which were all scored in the first half. Aly Anderson also added in 11 points.

The Eagles second match up was against Big Rapids. Kent City was expecting a tough game against the Cardinals and that’s exactly what they got in the 1st quarter. Big Rapids came out strong and quickly adjusted to Kent City’s fast paced game. The Eagles went into the 2nd quarter only up 2 points. Kent City turned up the intensity even more on the defensive end. They forced multiple turn overs in the back court which gave them easy layups. This quickly turned the game around as the Eagles held the Cardinals scoreless in the 2nd quarter, and gave them a 17 point lead. Kent City continued to dominate the game and ended with a 53 to 24 win. Leading scorer of the game was Madelyn Geers with 32 points. Delaney Bonter also added in 6 points and Denyle Bonter added in 5 points.
