Boys Freshman Basketball · Freshmen Boys fall short against Muskegon Oakridge, 61-50

Kent City’s freshman boys basketball team took on Oakridge on Thursday January 23rd. The boys had their best offensive performance scoring 50 points on the night. The Eagles ran through their offense effectively but struggled getting the ball through the hoop at times. In the first quarter, the Oakridge press slowed the Eagles down as they went out to an early lead 19-10. Kent City was able to keep up their scoring opportunities in the first half by scoring 11 in the second quarter. Oakridge had the lead at the half 35-21.

Coming out of halftime, the Eagles kept fighting. Both teams went back and forth scoring the second half. Oakridge would out score the Eagles in the third quarter, 14-13. However Kent City out scored Oakridge 16-12 in the fourth quarter.

I was very pleased that we out scored Oakridge in the second half. The boys played together and played hard the whole game. As the season moves on, you can see the improvement each week. We need to continue to work on turnovers and communicating on Defense.  All 10 players were able to score in the game. Final score was Oakridge 61 Kent City 50.
