KCXC · All Eagle Runners Competed Well at Central Montcalm

Every single Eagle cross country team member ran their best time of the young 2019 season at the Central Montcalm Hornet Run.  All of the freshmen as well as Alyeska Linsley also ran their lifetime best for the 5K distance.  Additionally, many of the grade level races featured flying Eagles at the front of the pack.

Layla Martini ran the fastest time of the day, 20:07, out of all of the girls, and easily won the junior girls’ race.  Abby Ignasiak (22:06) also got to win her race–the senior girls’–and had teammate Elizabeth Sible (22:37) close behind in 3rd.  Alyeska Linsley was 3rd in the sophomore girls’ race with 21:39.  Kierra Flegel (23:35) was fifth for the team  running strong in the sophomore race (9th) as well as Emily Lantzer (13th) and Mickenzie Brancheau (18th).  Junior Carley Denhof was 11th and senior Kristen Toporski was 13th respectively.

Ryan Wheeler (18:30) and Daniel Loew (19:51) were the highest finishers amongst the Eagle boys.  Ryan ran an isolated race for 8th amongst juniors and Daniel had to stay in front of a pack for 8th in the freshmen race.  Nick Flegel was 9th in the senior race with the team’s best time, 18:02.  Thomas Swanson (19:25) and Brock Hearth (20:05) were the other top placers–10th and 16th–in the sophomore race.

Freshmen Nick Rode (16th), Jordan Schuiling (18th), Ethan Slock (22nd), and Isaac Huizinga (25th), all moved up nicely to eek out a medal in their new “best ever” times.
