Eagles News · 8th grade volleyball showing big improvements


The 8th grade volleyball team had a busy week last week.  The “A” team started out with a tough match at Morley Stanwood on Wednesday night and struggled on serve receive and had a hard time getting anything going and lost the match 2 sets to 1 by scores of 8-21, 21-19 and 9-21.

On Thursday night the “B” team hosted Lakeview and Reed City.  They would open up the night with Lakeview and win the first set 21-9.  In the second set they struggled with their serving and lost 16-21.  In the final set they found themselves behind and lost 9-21.  Serving leaders were Sarah Kozal with 7 points and 5 aces and Esther Yates with 6 points and 4 aces.

In the final match of the night they played a very tough match against Reed City showing some great improvements.  The match would have a lot of exciting volleys.  The scores of the match were 15-21, 22-24 and 21-17.  Serving leaders were Izabella Arechiga with 10 points, Hayley Lyon 8 points and 4 aces, Sarah Kozal 6 points and 3 aces and Esther Yates with 6 points.

On Saturday the “A” team traveled to Tri-County and would start the morning out slow against the host school.  Scores of the set were 15-21, 12-21 and 21-18.  Serving leaders were Lexie Bowers with 6 points and 3 aces, Sage Russo 5 points and 2 aces and Jacee Hoffman 4 points and 1 ace.

Their next opponent would be the Lakeview Wildcats and they would play a much better match.  Their serving was much more consistent along with their serve receive passing.  They were able to have many great setups with multiple kills.  Scores of the match were 21-11, 22-20 and 21-19.  Serving leaders were Lexie Bowers with 10 points and 8 aces, Jacee Hoffman 6 points and 5 aces, Sage Russo 6 points and 2 aces and Lizette Solorio with 6 points and 2 aces.
