Beginning on Saturday, December 8, 2018, Kent City’s varsity boys soccer coach Abrahm Shearer will be offering a soccer training program for boys and girls in grades 1st — 8th grade. The training will occur on Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. — 11:00 a.m. in the Middle School gymnasium for eight weeks. Training will be focused on skill development.
Due to gym availability, the training sessions will occur on the following dates: December 8, December 15, January 5, February 2, February 16, March 2, March 9, and March 16. Cost for the training is $65. There are two ways to enroll:
- Pay with cash or check (Payable to Alliance FC) by turning into the High School Office.

Coach Shearer has spent his life training soccer players. He coached the Aquinas College Men’s Soccer team for eight seasons, leading the school to their first ever appearance in the NAIA Tournament. Coach Shearer also won three MHSAA State Championships with the East Grand Rapids Girls’ Soccer Team. As a player, Coach Shearer was an All-American at Aquinas College. Recently, one of Coach Shearer’s players was drafted 8th overall by the New England Revolution in the Major Soccer League (MLS). In addition to coaching soccer, Coach Shearer formed the Alliance Academy that features some of the best soccer training and teams in the state of Michigan!
