On Wednesday (Oct. 10), the girls varsity golf team wrapped up its season with a very respectable performance at a challenging and soggy Mines Golf Course in Grand Rapids. The team compiled one of its best efforts of the year, scoring a solid 478. Leading the charge was Mackenzie Mortensen with a top 12 performance of 103 (48-55). Mackenzie missed qualifying for the State Tournament by a mere 7 strokes – a great effort. If it wasn’t for the tricky 5th hole, she would have made it. Following behind was fellow senior Zara Weber and her 120. Wrapping up the scoring were the Carr sisters. This time, younger sister and fabulous freshman Michelle (125) got the better of older sister, Joan (130).
Zara and Mackenzie are two of the “founding” members of the Girls Golf Program at Kent City. Their time dedicated to the program over the past few years does not go unnoticed. Thank you Zara and Mackenzie!
