On another muggy fall afternoon the Eagles took to their home field against the Falcons of Allendale. While the team still hopes for some fall weather before the season come to a close, they persevered to push past the Falcons, 2-1.
The home team scored first in the seventh minute. Alfredo Bolanos lofted a corner kick to the far post where Carlose Gomez muscled it home. The Falcons would respond with a similar goal a few minutes later on their own corner kick; though the team would like to see instant replay to determine if an Eagle actually deflected the ball in. The half ended in 1-1 tie.
In the second half the Eagles intensity level picked up. They created several scoring chances before Jaret Jaramillo finished an assist from Regfugio Benavides at the nine minute mark. The Eagle defense made this score stand with some fine goaltending from Pedro Diaz and his defensive mates: Dylan Schutt, Gio Sanchez, Alfredo Bolanos, and Seth Vanderwest.
The Eagles improve to 8-1 on the season with three games remaining. They travel to Hopkins on Wednesday and Wyoming on Friday before completing the fall slate at home against Kelloggsville on October 15.
