It seems hard to believe that we are already three days into summer 2018, but the early start in August last year is paying off now. We hope our student-athletes are able to spend some quality time with their families, earn some money, do some chores, and read a good book or two, or three, or four . . . With that being said, summer is also the time where championships are built. How we spend our time in the summer will have a major impact on our success during the 2018-2019 school year. Our coaches are offering many opportunities for student-athletes to improve their craft throughout the summer, with the exception of the official “Dead Week”which will run from Saturday, June 30 — Sunday, July 8.
One area that is beneficial for every athlete and will be a major focus of our athletic program moving forward is the strength and conditioning of our student-athletes. With our new weight lifting program PLT4M — our student-athletes are on the same page regardless of sport. This program, compliments of Kent City Sports Boosters, was made with the multi-sport, high school student-athlete in mind. The weight room is open every Tuesday and Thursday at 8:00 a.m. and again at 7:00 p.m. This is open to any Kent City student-athlete in grades 6-12. For specific sports programs, contact your head coach for more information.
Another tool we have at our fingertips is the Kent City Pool. On Monday and Wednesday nights throughout the summer, we will be offering H2O for Athletes. This program will put you through a tough work-out in the pool (don’t worry — you won’t notice because you’re in the pool) aimed at increasing cardio stamina as well as functional strength. H2O for Athletes is open to any student-athlete from any school. However, Kent City student-athletes can participate at no cost! We will not only work on strength and conditioning, we plan to end each night with some type of game.
Stay tuned throughout the summer as we continue to post pictures from our workouts. We hope to see your smiling face in our next series of pictures from our summer workouts 2018. #kceaglesworkethic
