Varsity Softball · Varsity Softball Earns 4 All-Conference

The Varsity Softball Team finished 2nd in the CSAA-Silver and earned 3 All-Conference and 1 All-Conference Honorable Mention. Congratulations to the following…

Janelle Krueger: She led our team in many offensive categories, including hits, runs, doubles, total bases, & HBP. Janelle finished the regular season with a .476 Batting Avg. On defense she was stalwart committing only 4 errors on the season while playing CF, P, and SS. Her fielding % was .934. Janelle was also a team captain who led with hard work and a team first attitude.

Kenzie Bowers: Kenzie led our team in Batting Avg. (.483-regular season), on-base percentage, slugging percentage, OPS, walks, HRs, and stolen bases. She was also stellar on defense while playing mostly shortstop. She finished with a .925 fielding %. And she did all this while gaining all-conference in track as well. No matter what was happening, Kenzie always showed up with a smile!

Alyssa Larson: Alyssa batted in the middle of our lineup all year and it showed as she led our team in RBI with 39. She also finished 2nd in HRs with 3. Her batting avg. for the regular season was an impressive .435. On the mound, she tied for the team lead with 9 wins. She led the team in appearances, IP, & complete games. She had an ERA under 3 and walked only 28 batters in 87 innings pitched. She definitely did not pitch like a Freshman, but rather a seasoned veteran who showed up big in many big situations. Defensively, besides pitcher, she played OF and IB. She was excellent wherever we put her, finishing with a .929 fielding %.

Honorable Mention-Makenna Bonter: Makenna struck out looking in her first two Varsity at-bats. After that, and a two week weather break, she heated up like a microwave oven! We would move her to the leadoff spot and she would not disappoint. She led our team in singles and triples. After the slow start, she would finish the regular season with a .473 batting average, which was good for third on the team. She also finished with and OBP of .500, which was good for second on the team. She was our catcher in every game she played and improved greatly as the year went on.

All of these girls will be returning next year, looking to build on this season’s success and leading their team to greater heights. The team will celebrate their season with an awards banquet (with the JV team) on Monday night at Mamrelund Lutheran Church; 7:00 p.m.
