Wednesday afternoon the MS track and field team made the short trip to Grant to compete against Tri-County in addition to the visited school. The Girls came away with a double win defeating Tri-County 100-25 and Grant 106-30. Earning points for the lady eagles were Pichardo, Brown, Preston, Scheuneman, Brancheau, Moorman, Lantzer, Bowers, and Flegel (all with 1st place finishes)! Multiple relay teams also took first place including the 4×100 relay team of Pichardo, Vogg, Hearth, and Brown with a new PR of 56.74! The 4×200 team (Pichardo, Plumb, Brancheau, Brown), the 4×400 relay (Polus, Crane, Flegel, Kozal), and the 4×800 relay (Flegel, Houtman, Kozal, Bowers) also placed on top. Second and third place finishes were captured by Salcedo (Shot put), Afton (high jump), Bowers (long jump), Vogg-70m dash, Hearth and Plumb-100m dash, Brancheau-200m dash, Polus-400 dash, Lantzer and Kozal-800m run, Freeland-1600 run, Scheuneman-55 and 200 hurdles, the 4×100 relay of Dolan, Vandyk, Diaz, Moorman, and two 4×200 relay teams (Afton, Max, Polus, Vandyk) & (Cruz, McCullough, Fuller, and Lyon). PRs we’re reached by: Schnicke, Pablo-Ramirez, Crane, Huizinga, Rogers, Lantzer, Preston, Freeland, Plumb, VanDyk, Brancheau, Swift, Diaz, Crane, Kozal, Sullivan, Bowers, Vogg, Pichardo, Hearth, and Brown! Great job ladies!!
The MS boys track team also had a win over Tri-County (89-48) but had a tight finish against Grant (65-72). There were a number of impressive accomplishments, including a 1st place finish with a PR in the high jump by Longcore (5’4”) and another 1st place/PR for him in the Long jump (16’7”). Victor Salas sealed 1st place/PR in the 55m hurdles, and took another 1st in the 200m hurdles. Magoon ran 59.40 for his PR and 1st place in the 400m dash. 6th grader, Sammy Martini PR’d with 12:19 for a 2nd place 3200m run. Swanson had a 2nd place PR shot put at 38’. Additional impressive performances were from Kyler Larson with a PR in the mile at 5:23 and the second place finish; Brock Hearth in 2nd place 800m run and PR of 2:29; while Gabe Rusnell soared to 8’6” with the PR and 2nd place position. Additional point earners were the 4×400 relay team (Westbrook, Longcore, Carlson, Magoon-1st place), the 4×200 relay of (Swanson, Joe Anderson, Carlson, Magoon-2nd), another 4×200 relay (Josh Anderson, Fisk, Jim Anderson, Schutter-3rd), the 4×100 relay of (Pieper, Schuiling, Fisk, Schutt-for 3rd); Schuiling-3rd in 200m hurdles, Westbrook-3rd in 100m dash, Schutt-2nd in the 70m dash, Josh Anderson-3rd Pole Vault, the 4×400 relay of (Westbrook, Longcore, Carlson, Magoon-1st place), and (Hearth, Heeringa, Gomez, Swanson-3rd ), and the 4×800 relay of (Larsen, Hearth, Carlson, and Salas-1st)! Also noted were PRs from: Rode-high jump, Shot put-Joe Anderson, Farrington, Kerwin, Vanhouten, Rubio; long jump-Jim Anderson and Tristan Lutz; 100m dash-Heeringa, Rusnell and a season record by Martinez-Alcocer in this 100 and also the 70; 200m dash-Fisk, Kik, Vanhouten, Pecynski, McVicker; 55m hurdles-Pieper and Goguen; 200m hurdles-Flegel; 400m dash-Pieper; and lastly the 800m run by-Milanowski, Josh Anderson, and Goguen. Great job MS track runners!! What a way to end the last dual/tri meet of the 2018 season! The last home meet will be the Sports Boosters Invite that takes place in Kent City on this upcoming Tuesday.
