Some Eagle track and field members traveled to Battle Creek to escape the cold and rain for the D1, D2, D3 invitational on Friday night. The Eagles had some good competition and set many season and personal records.
Lauren Freeland was the lone Eagle gold medalist—in the 800m run (2:26). However, Kent City took many silvers, including Layla Martini in the 3200m run (11:57). Freeland and Martini teamed together with Abby Ignasiak and Elizabeth Sible for silver in the 4 x 800 (10:24). Freeland (5:29) and Martini (5:31) also went 2-3 in the 1600m run.
McKenna Dombrowski set a new personal record clearing 9’0” for 4th place in the pole vault. In the 800m run, Ignasiak ran a PR of 2:43 for 5th and Carley Denhof made the finals of the 200 and sprinted to 6th (28.93).
The track teams are scheduled to take on White Cloud in a home dual meet on Tuesday and then host the Kent City Elite Invitational on Friday night.
