The Eagle soccer team traveled to Lamar Park for the second time this year, a return engagement against the Wyoming Purple Team who they faced at home in the first match of the year. The teams again played a spirited back and forth match, but once again Wyoming came out on top by a 4-2 margin.
The Eagles started slowly, giving up three goals in the opening half. Early in the second left striker Santi Gomez collected a through pass from Elian Espinoza. His hard shot rebounded off the keeper, and his partner from the right forward position, Carlos Gomez finished the job to put the Eagles on the board.
Defenders Alfredo Bolanos, Dylan Schutt, Brian Martinez and Seth Vanderwest showed improved communication in the second half and limited the open looks for Wyoming. Junior Benavides stopped seven of eight shots he faced in the second half. The Eagles closed the scoring with a header from Carlos Gomez off a well placed corner kick from Santi Gomez.
The Eagles will complete their season this week with an away match vs. Allendale on Wednesday and a home finale vs. Hopkins on Friday.
