It is going to be a busy Saturday for the Kent City Eagle faithful. The Kent City Marching Eagles will be at Ford Field in Detroit as the #2 ranked band in the state, competing for a State Championship at 10:30 a.m. Also at 10:30 a.m. Fraser Wilson and Hunter Nelson will be just starting their State Championship race at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Michigan. At 11:30 a.m., Lauren Freeland will start her race at these same Cross Country State Championships. Then at 1:00 p.m. the Varsity Football team will kick off against our neighbors to the west, Ravenna in the school’s 2nd appearance in a District Finals game.
The 1:00 p.m. game time was set by the host school (Ravenna). Kent City does have some student-athletes who are in both band and football, but after some attempts to move to a later game time on Saturday, Ravenna decided that they would like to keep the 1:00 p.m. start because they want their players to get acclimated to playing on Saturday afternoon and they have a spaghetti dinner fundraiser planned for later in the evening. Kent City is hoping to have tickets available for pre-sale in the High School Office as soon as we receive them from Ravenna. All tickets are $5.00 since this is an MHSAA tournament event.
