Multiple Teams · Kent City vs. Morley Stanwood; Conference Championship Clash

A lot has changed in 15 years.  The last time Kent City won a conference title in volleyball, a majority of our current Eagles were just learning how to walk.  Kent City was also in its final season in the Western Waterways Athletic Conference and Volleyball was a winter sport.  Coach Vandy Krueger was on the bench as an Assistant Coach in 2000, and now has Kent City in position to capture the schools 1st outright Volleyball Conference Championship in 15 seasons.

The Eagles are 9-0 in the CSAA Silver Division, capturing 27 of 29 sets within the Conference on the season.  On Wednesday night, Lakeview jumped out to an early lead in the 1st set before Kent City unloaded on the Wildcats.  In fact, some of the hits by our front line may have put dents in the gym floor.  Next week, Kent City welcomes the defending CSAA Silver Champions to the Nest for the final regular season game of the fall, before tournament play begins.  Earlier in the season, the Eagles defeated the Mohawks, 3-1.  Morley Stanwood (8-1 in the CSAA Silver)  will certainly be looking to avenge the loss and will also be playing intent on sharing this season’s conference championship.

The 2000 WWAC Champions ended the season with a 44-12-2 record under the direction of Head Coach Jackie Tolles.  They were 11-1 in conference play and won a District Championship.  We would like to recognize the 2000 team at Wednesday’s game and invite them to come and watch our current Eagles as they battle for a perfect 10-0 season and the school’s 2nd conference title since Y2K.  Game time is set for approximately 7:00 p.m. but often times will begin earlier, following the J.V. contest.  Arrive early, catch up with your old teammates/classmates, and cheer on the current Eagles as they near the pinnacle of the 2015 regular season!
